An innovative new database is set to give employers vital information on workers’ earnings and benefits.
Lancaster-based Employer Solutions is accessing invaluable facts and figures that will benefit businesses across North Lancashire and South Cumbria.
The pioneering concept allows employers to record their own pay information - without loss of privacy - and to compare their rates and overall benefits with others in the labour market.
Ann Morris, of Lancaster District Chamber of Commerce, said many requests for information on earnings were received, but without sound statistics the organisation was limited in the advice it could give.
“This new database is going to provide valuable and current information without compromising confidentiality,� she said.
Malcolm Martin, of Employer Solutions, explained that the aim was to help companies both in recruiting and in holding on to the best workers.
“We hope that all the participating organisations can establish a competitive edge, not just in the labour market but also in business performance,� he said.
Compiling the statistical analysis is Jon Powell, of Employer Solutions. He is an operational research specialist and has recently carried out a forecast of prison populations for the Home Office.
